| Why Do Buyers Keep Looking at Other Homes? |
| One of the most common concerns I hear from sellers is: “If a buyer loved our home, why are they still attending open homes?” It’s a fair question, and understandably, it can create uncertainty. However, the answer is often much more reassuring than many sellers realise. Finding a property they genuinely like doesn’t necessarily mean buyers stop searching. In fact, continuing to inspect other homes is often a natural and important part of the decision-making process. Think about any significant purchase you’ve made. Chances are you didn’t commit the moment you found something that appealed to you. You compared options, asked questions, researched alternatives and sought reassurance that you were making the right decision. Purchasing a home is no different only the stakes are considerably higher. Throughout my years in real estate, I’ve worked with countless buyers who continued attending inspections after finding a property that suited them perfectly. They weren’t necessarily looking for something better. More often, they were looking for confidence that they hadn’t overlooked another opportunity. That’s an important distinction. From a seller’s perspective, it’s easy to interpret ongoing inspections as hesitation or a loss of interest. In reality, buyers are often simply validating their decision. They’re comparing value, lifestyle, presentation and overall appeal to ensure the home they favour truly stands out. Interestingly, many of the strongest buyers I’ve represented have inspected one or two additional properties before returning to submit an offer on the home that captured their attention from the very beginning. What buyers are really comparing extends well beyond the number of bedrooms or the size of the block. They’re asking themselves: – Can I genuinely see myself living here? – Does this home complement the lifestyle I’m seeking? – Does it represent good value compared to everything else I’ve inspected? – Will I feel confident with this decision in years to come? These are questions that are rarely answered in a single inspection. They develop through comparison and reflection. For sellers, this is why it’s important not to mistake silence for disinterest. Often, buyers are simply doing their homework. A home that is presented to a high standard, priced strategically and supported by a well-executed marketing campaign will remain firmly in buyers’ minds even while they’re inspecting other properties. Ultimately, buyers don’t stop looking because they’ve found a house they like. They stop looking when they’re confident they’ve found the right one. At Kerr Real Estate, we understand that buying and selling property is as much an emotional decision as it is a financial one.
